LOUNGING. New scenario by Lapalma at IMM Cologne 2015.
There are spaces where we spend our time, between one task and another, places where we meet people, we relax, we chat, we organize our day or we simply pass by or wait for an important meeting.
These new contemporary cocoons, open the planning of public and private spaces to new interpretations, which are far away from bespoke projects but focused on the idea of “sharing”. We share everything – images, words, thoughts – we are more and more connected and informed.
The new hyper-technological landscape makes designers and manufacturer think about the change, without losing the importance of the person and its need.
Intelligent furniture enhances productivity, optimizes costs, helps flexibility, encourages the relationship among people, supports cultural exchange; it stimulates creativity, attract people and, last but not least, it reduces the environmental impact.
This is the new vision of Lapalma which, under the art direction of Francesco Rota, involves all the living areas: a house with versatile or modular furniture, an office which is no longer a cold computerized room but a space that represents a lifestyle, and new lounge areas.
Especially in this field, Lapalma has been a protagonist in the contract furniture in the last 30 years and it is exhibiting at IMM Cologne convinced that the concept of “sharing” nowadays must be matched with “experience: experience of places, feelings, emotions, people and stories.
Waiting rooms in airports, public and eating areas, places where you can concentrate to read a newspaper or chat in small groups, drink a coffee, meet or simply have a break, are fitted with a new awareness and the latest technological devices to welcome us while waiting and offering a special feeling in a new environment.
The real protagonist of the lounge area is ADD, a flexible modular seating system designed by Francesco Rota as an answer to the different needs in the contract market, but suitable also for a residential one. From a small two-seater sofa, perfect for the waiting room of a small office, to the more complex combinations for wide public spaces, in a museum or in an airport, ADD is an extremely flexible project.
It can be equipped with small tables, trays, magazine-racks also with sockets to load smartphones or tablets. ADD can be declined the numberless combinations for the contemporary lounge.
Together with ADD, at IMM Cologne 2015, Lapalma is exhibiting also KIPU design Anderssen & Voll, and the latest new chair CUT design Francesco Rota with a new 4 legged wooden base. LEM stool recently selected by Elle Décor for the project Be Original as one of the icons that have left a mark on the history of Italian and International design since the fifties, is also exhibited.
